Support for Steve's son
Dear Family & Friends,
My apology for omitting personal greetings to each of you, but due to the urgency and time restraints regarding this request, I wanted to send this request to each of you as quickly as possible.
As most of you know, my son Steve was sentenced to, and has served over 7 years of 35 years for drug related offenses. The inappropriate length of his sentence is due to Mandatory Minimum Sentencing guidelines.
During Steve’s time of incarceration, we have exhausted all available legal appeal efforts on both the State and Federal levels. Our remaining option is to file a petition to the Governor of Ohio, requesting his consideration for clemency or commutation of Steve’s sentence.
We have begun the process of preparing for this petition and we are in need of your assistance. Steve’s attorney has requested that letters of support be provided from as many family members and friends as are willing.
If you are willing, following are some guidelines / bullet points to assist you with drafting your letter of support:
These points are only provided to assist you with preparing your letter of support. If you are willing to do so, your letter should be addressed to:

State of Ohio Parole Board
Dear Honorable Members of the Parole Board: My name is Sue Friendly. I am 34 years old and have been a Librarian for the Little City Library for 15 years. I am the sister of Steven R. Mayer A457-036.Since being incarcerated, Steve has proven to be a model prisoner with exemplary conduct during his time of incarceration. He has participated in and completed several programs and always has a positive attitude. He takes full responsibility for the actions that led to his incarceration, and shows considerable remorse. My husband and I are more than willing to provide Steve with every aspect of support, guidance, accountability and love. The job market in Little City is booming. My husband can offer him direct employment at the carrot canning factory upon Steve’s release. We also have an extra car that he can use until he has saved enough to purchase his own vehicle. I believe beyond a doubt that upon his release, Steve will come home and make us all proud.
Thank you for your time and attention.Sincerely, Susan B. Friendly
